AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA has an opening for a Senior Scientist in Discovery to conduct pre-clinical research and development in the area of antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).

KeyResponsibilities include:

  • Synthesis,purification and characterization of ADCs on mg to gram scale.

  • Developmentand optimization of conjugation protocols utilizing novel chemistries andtechnologies.

  • Developmentand optimization of automated techniques for ADC synthesis and purification.

  • Collaborationwith Therapeutic Area Project Teams, as well as core Chemistry, Protein Scienceand Process Development teams to expand conjugation capabilities at Abbvie.

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry/ Biochemistry/Chemical Biology or other relevantdiscipline with 0-3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Hands-onexperience with generation and characterization of antibody drug conjugatespreferably in the area of biotherapeutics.

  • Proficientin analytical techniques including Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography(HIC)-HPLC, Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Liquid chromatography–massspectrometry (LC-MS), Ion-Exchange (IEX), Reversed Phase (RP)-HPLC, andcapillary electrophoresis (e.g. reduced and non-reduced CE-SDS, icIEF).

  • Hands-onexperience and knowledge in protein purification using HIC, IEX, SEC andaffinity chromatography.Experience withGE AKTA FPLC and unicorn software preferred.

  • Thisposition requires an individual who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working,detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced team environment withdemonstrated problem solving skills.

  • High-qualitywritten and oral communication skills and the ability to excel in acollaborative environment are essential.
