Global Biologics’ mission is to lead therapeutic protein discovery by generating clinically and commercially successful protein-based therapeutics in partnership with our therapeutic areas. In partnership with all areas, we must rapidly develop novel, best in class, and differentiated protein therapeutics that meet significant unmet need and have a higher probability of success.

Assignment Details

The Biologics Pharmacy & Analytics group, as part of the Global Protein Sciences / Biologics group within Discovery, is seeking a highly motivated individual to support core group responsibilities and workflows. The individual will be responsible for supporting activities and managing workload of the Global Protein Pharmacy, including registration, record keeping, and sample coordination activities in order to enable discovery efforts across the organization.

As an integrated part of the group’s analytical functions, the individual will learn to characterize therapeutic proteins using High Performance Liquid Chromatography methods, Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy, Endotoxin measurements and other bioanalytical methods. Results will be entered into electronic certificate records and databases.

Additionally, the individual will support high-throughput and automated affinity-based purification screening with downstream protein manipulation or reformulation as well as protein modification and conjugation (biotin or fluorophore) workflows to support discovery initiatives. While general laboratory experience is desirable, attention to detail, good organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to multitask are critical attributes sought for this position.

Basic:

  • Completed at least one year of college education before beginning co-op

  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your co-op

  • Undergraduate or Master’s Level Student Majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated).

  • Perform routine maintenance of analytical instruments and replenish consumables within lab.

  • High degree of organization, multitasking and ability to work in a close team environment is necessary.

  • This position requires multitasking to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment. Attention to detail with well-organized and disciplined record keeping is a must.

Preferred:

  • General laboratory experience is desirable, especially experience with pipettes and solution calculations.

  • Good written and oral communication skills are desirable.

  • Knowledge of scientific principles, chromatographic and analytical methods is preferred.
