We are seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join our mass spec proteomics team within the DMPK department in the Abbvie Research Center in Worcester, MA.Our proteomics team is engaging in the discovery of novel biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and disease mechanisms in support of drug discovery programs and in close collaboration with discovery, translational, and PK/PD functions.

Successful candidates will have a background in computational science with experience or interest in the pharmaceutical field.


This position will manage LC/MS data from a broad range of LC/MS instruments, maintain proteomics/proteogenomics related software tools and infrastructure, and perform proteomics data analysis to support active research projects across a variety therapeutic areas. The successful applicant will contribute to integration strategies by collaborating in a dynamic research environment with LC/MS scientists and bioinformatics and computational biologists and will apply state-of-the-art informatics tools to analyze and transform proteomics/proteogenomics data into biologics insights. The successful applicant will also contribute to in-house data processing software development and data infrastructure building.

  • BS or MS in computer science, biostatistics, bioinformatics or related scientific field (chemistry, biology, biophysics) required.

  • 3-7 (BS) or 0-5 (MS) years relevant experience required with strong computational emphasis preferred.

  • Experience in utilizing programming/scripting to parse and transform data, performing data analysis and generating reports for project support is essential.

  • Ability to execute and automate standard scientific and statistical analysis using tools/languages including Python, R, Perl, etc. Familiar with SQL and Linux is preferred.

  • Experience in applying bioinformatics tools and technologies to uncover novel trends in experimental data is preferred.

  • Experience in researching, developing, and integrating new technologies and computational approaches to enhance and accelerate scientific research is a plus.

  • Experience with LC/MS and proteomics, biochemical and biological data (DNA sequences, RNAseq, proteomics, etc.) is a plus

  • Curious about science and data with motivation to drive both efficiency and quality.

  • Ability to partner with project teams to develop informatics solutions to satisfy business needs

  • The ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, communicate clearly and effectively and build collaborative relationships is essential.

  • Working knowledge of machine learning, cloud computing, AWS, Docker, Git is a plus
