Disease Management Specialist- Hidradenitis Suppurativa

The Disease Management Specialist has the mandate to establish and maintain a multidisciplinary team to better define the care pathway of people living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and get the disease recognized outside the dermatology field. The incumbent will have to collaborate closely with the dermatologists who are the main conductor of the multidisciplinary teams.

In order to improve the quality of care for people living with HS across all of Canada, the Disease Management Specialist will need to work for an improved standard of care for people living with hidradenitis suppurativa, by:

Facilitating the development of co-management practices between dermatologists and plastic- and general surgeons.

Identifying community or hospital based Center of Excellence dermatologist practices.

Identifying together with Medical Science Liaisons surgeons currently treating patients living with HS.

Facilitating the establishment of co-management practices of the identified Centers of Excellence (dermatologists and surgeons)

Executing the “Recognize and Refer” strategy within the territory for all major hospital ER departments

Establishing HS educational programs in major ER departments and/or grand rounds

Ensuring HS Centers of Excellence are recognized and established as part of the referral routine in the ER

Bachelor degree in Biological sciences, pharmacy or business related field, or equivalent Valid nursing license.

Strong communicator; English must be at advanced level, oral and written.

3-5 years of experience in a similar role

In-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders

Proven track record of success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas

Commercial or medical pharmaceutical industry experiences such as physician/account based selling, training, MSL, managed health care or marketing preferred

Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities

Ability to proactively identify customer style / behavior and adapts quickly

Comfortable and efficient working in a matrix structure environment.

Knowledge of any governmental and/or or legal mandatory certification requirements as by respective country’s laws and/or regulations.

Through an entrepreneurial spirit bring different stakeholders together around the common cause of improved care of HS patients.

Good knowledge of healthcare organization and structure.

CHE/educational background within the healthcare sector an asset.

Proficient in using MS Office Suite and all related new technologies in relationship to the role and the work environment.

Availability to travel within Canada about 20 % of the time and 10% of the time internationally.

Passport and Driver’s License required.
