What is an In Field Excellence Partner we hear you ask?
It may not be your typical job title, but these are unique and exciting roles within our industry, with the main purpose being to maximise standards of in-field excellence which is critical to delivering AbbVie's affiliate performance.
In a (rather large) nutshell, these are field based roles and you will be responsible for:
Strategy & Planning - which means:
Developing a robust understanding of assigned therapy areas, market dynamics, competitors and products to enable tailoring of global and affiliate plans to the needs of the business
Using this understanding to contribute to the development of above brand In-Field Excellence strategies which will be led by the In Field Excellence & Learning Manager
Understanding and aligning with the organisational strategy for the development of In-Field Excellence and work with the Brand Teams and In-Field Managers to translate this into a robust, actionable In Field Excellence optimisation plans for each Business Unit
Ensuring clearly defined objectives are set for In-Field Team capability, and that the KPI's and tools used to assess progress are in place
Development of Processes, Systems & Tools - which requires:
Responsibility for project leadership of above brand workstreams to deliver affiliate In Field Excellence processes, systems and tools, as agreed with In Field Excellence & Learning Manager
Appropriately tailor and implement In Field Team Excellence processes, systems & tools across assigned Business Units, and ensuring consistent and high quality use. For example; ‘Brand book’ development and roll-out, integrated account planning processes, excellent in-field team working, implementation of In-Field Excellence methodology, effective use of CRM system, effective use of dashboards
Developing Knowledge & Competencies by:
Working with the Brand Team Lead and In-Field Managers to identify specific knowledge or competency development requirements (including Initial Learning Programmes) and develop a capability development plan
Working collaboratively with the Learning Partners to ensure they develop fit for purpose learning journeys and associated learning interventions (aligned with 70:20:10 principles) to meet the objectives in the plan
Validating the performance of individuals from assigned Business Units as required to comply with company policy (for example following an Initial Learning Programme)
Implementation & Impact Assessment by:
Working closely with the other In Field Excellence Partners and Learning Partners to facilitate the sharing of best practice across In Field Teams and Business Units
Working with In Field Team Members and In-Field Managers to support understanding of and adherence to standard processes and systems (as described above)
Working with Learning Partners / Subject Matter Experts to ensure they deliver additional training as required by the Business Unit plan
Providing supplementary, targeted support to In-Field Managers to address specific in-role process compliance or competency development needs of individuals (e.g. targeted coaching aligned with the competency framework)
Monitoring In Field Excellence performance against the defined In Field Excellence objectives & KPI's, providing regular feedback to Management Stakeholders across the business and within Customer Excellence
In addition to all of this, you will also have responsibility for:
Complying with the company’s policies and procedures to meet statutory, quality and business requirements within the overall strategy and objectives of AbbVie Ltd
Taking responsibility for the Health & Safety performance of themselves through compliance within EHS programs, regulations and standards. Subject to the policy and procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook
Contributing to the development of a positive working environment and culture within the Customer Excellence Division

What are we looking for in you?
You will have a strong understanding of AbbVie’s business context including the NHS & pharmaceutical environment and an awareness of the current and future functional contributions of key functions across the affiliate (including sales, marketing, medical and market access).
It would be very beneficial to have knowledge of; therapy area, products (including the fundamental data and attributes of our products and our competitor’s products), stakeholders, brand strategy and tactical execution, however if not, then you must have the hunger to learn!
You will also understand the brand planning process including the development and execution of brand strategy and tactics and have experienced integrated, cross-functional account planning, including translation of the national brand plan into high quality aligned local tactical plans.
Change management is also a key factor in this role so having experience of successful implementation of change initiatives across teams would give you a great advantage.
As well as experience using tools such as CRM, dashboards, account planning tools etc. to support effective planning and execution of in-field team activities, you will have a strong understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice.
Whether you are educated to degree or equivalent in Science, or possess sufficient industry experience to demonstrate the ability to understand and use scientific data, your input and expertise will be invaluable to our continued success across our In Field Excellence function.
