  • This role is responsible for the development and implementation of the Oncology Business Unit at AbbVie Australia

  • Lead the commercialisation and achievement of business objectives & strategies

  • Drive annual marketing plans and ensure delivery of their successful implementation

  • Lead the growth of long term sales, profit and market share position for assigned products within the context of the overall Corporate Business Plan

  • Evaluate the practicality and potential of new indications and market developments.

  • Responsible for managing the Oncology budget/P&L.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Planning and Development

  • Deeply understand local market and competition environment, to deploy the BU sales and marketing strategy and plan.

  • Develop action plans for BU business under his/her responsibility in line with long term strategies and annual business plans.

  • Ensure the execution of BU strategies and plans in order to achieve the approved business objectives (sales) within agreed expenses.

  • Inform in a timely manner to commercial management team of his/her business and of opportunities for its growth.

  • Develop and maintain effective external relationships, which can influence the efficient operation of the business.

Operational Process Management and Implementation

  • Establish budget, long range objectives and criteria within BU for monitoring and measuring success.

  • Measure and evaluate sales performance within BU and provide adequate and timely information to commercial management team.

  • Ensure the BU sales team operates effectively.

  • Ensure efficient and effective operation, through adequate systems and procedures, in order to maintain an effective BU organizational team, in an open participative business environment.

  • Champion Sales Force Effective (SFE) programs for the BU.

People Management

  • Manage and empower the BU sales and marketing team by open communication, regular performance review, prompt and appropriate feedback and coaching, employee training needs analysis and practice.

  • Create and maintain a work place culture which attracts, grows and retains highly qualified employees by pertinent sales force career ladder, proper succession planning and talent development policies and tools.

Leadership

  • Provides the necessary leadership to ensure appropriate direction, employees’ motivation and efficient accomplishment of key business results in BU.

  • Manages, utilizes and develops assigned personnel, in an effective manner, so that employees are treated with dignity and respect and capable people are properly rewarded.

  • Demonstrates, promotes and lives Abbvie WOW in all interactions.Represent AbbVie externally with external experts relevant to portfolio.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Strong Oncology therapeutic area experience

  • Breadth of industry experience in a sales and marketing leadership roles, including BUM experience

  • Experience of recently having launched a hospital/specialist product would be advantageous.

  • Successful track record of new product launches.
