As an AbbVie Summer Intern, you will participate in a paid, ten-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an intern, you will be located at our office in Sunnyvale, CA, with housing and shuttle services for eligible students.

General Position:

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in healthcare or the pharma/biotech industry, and who aspire to make a remarkable impact in the lives of patients with cancer. The intern will support various initiatives in the Commercial Analytics function m easuringthe effectiveness of marketing and sales tactics, development of KPIs based onbusiness needs and work with Brand, Sales, and/or Access teams to discuss therecommendations and implement actions. Successful candidates will encompass strong strategic and analytical thinking, good communication and presentation skills. Candidates will also demonstrate leadership skills and can manage multiple initiatives at the same time.

Assignment Details:

  • Analyze Sales and Marketing tacticsto understand their planning efficiency, execution accuracy, and impact

  • Develop recommendationsbased on the insights and socialize with stakeholders

  • Obtain consensus andcollaborate with matrix teams to implement solutions

  • Provide a fresh perspective on waysto increase efficiencies and collaboration with stakeholders

  • Support the Analytics team in dailyadministrative and ad hoc tasks

  • Abilityto work independently as well in a team

  • Handlemultiple requests simultaneously under pressure with both concurrent andconflicting deadlines


  • Be in an MBA/MS program of a US accredited university prior to internship start date

  • Prior experience in Analytics, Consulting, or a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or other scientific disciplines is desired.

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited University graduate program

  • Graduate Level Student

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent


  • 2 to 3 years of previous work experience

  • Expertise in data analysis and modeling

  • Excellent organization and communication skills

  • Interest in understanding business insights / analytics techniques

  • Detail oriented

  • Comfort with Microsoft Suite – Powerpoint, Excel, Word

  • Prior Programming in SAS, SPSS, SQL a plus

Final Presentation:

Each Intern is expected to prepare a short presentation to their team to share what they have learned through their internship and how they hope their new knowledge will help them secure their future career. Presentations should be 10 - 15 minutes long and should include visual aid (posters or PowerPoint).
