The Senior Specialist, Medical Services will provide a broad range of epidemiological expertise to fulfill a variety of regulatory or non-regulatory safety related projects.
Perform independent analysis of data from epidemiology studies including critical appraisal and in-depth reviews of the scientific literature.
Will manage and manipulate large databases with millions of record
Perform statistical analysis of data
Manage, implement & communicate epidemiological interpretation of published literature to relevant PST teams
Assist in the writing and publishing of scientific articles, presentations and posters
Assist in protocol development, questionnaire design and statistical analysis plan for primary research
Represent GSP on various sub-teams and provide epidemiology expertise and recommendations
Present complex scientific data clearly to groups with varying levels of epidemiology
Contribute to the formulation of regulatory responses.
Resourcefully provides creative solutions to complex epidemiology, regulatory and systems problems
MPH or MSdegree with 3-5 years of epidemiology, and/or public health experience.
SASprogramming experience required
Computer proficient (Windows, Word, Excel, Access, SAS andEndnote).
Has the ability to initiate quantitative methodology toanswer research questions.
Experience with pharmaceutical safety databases and AEreporting conventions (e.g. MedDRA).
Has the ability to interpret ICH/FDA regulations, guidelinesaffecting Drug Safety issues, and awarenessof impact of external factors e.g. regulatory changes.
Has the ability to interpret product labeling/literature forproducts, including their safety profile.
Applies medical, therapeutic and GPRMS product knowledge tomake sound decisions on process improvements.
Conveysinformation and recommendations in a logical manner to colleagues (e.g. writesmemos describing project progress, demonstrates an ability to organize andinterpret data effectively; reviews and edits reports from vendors to maximizetheir value.
Initiate sometraining for epidemiology and non epidemiology staff.
Significant Work Activities and Conditions: Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday), Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
