The Copy Content Manager provides copywriting, editing, and content research for print and electronic media for AbbVie advertising, promotion, and other communications. Deliverables include copy and content for sales collateral, product and indication launches, sales meetings, convention exhibits, direct to physician/HCP communications, direct to patient communications, and Managed Health Care programs. The Copy Content Manager has proven expertise writing for both print and interactive, including videos and web/multimedia. This person may also be called upon to write on an ad hoc basis for internal communication programs, including sales training, incentive projects, change management communications, and internal and external corporate and C-suite communications.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include implementing and expanding marketing strategy and tactics by creating copy and content that engages customers and stakeholders (patients, caregivers, friends, family and healthcare decision influencers) in ways that improve quality of communication and facilitate breakthrough, innovation, and differentiation.
AbbVie stakeholders will look to the Copy Content Manager to write, edit, and generate content for print and electronic media for AbbVie advertising, promotion, and other communications. Deliverables include copy documents for product and indication launches, sales collateral materials, sales meetings, convention exhibits, direct to physician and other healthcare professionals, direct to patient, Managed Health Care programs, videos, web/multimedia, internal communication programs, including sales training, incentive projects on an ad hoc basis.
The Copy Content Manager has a demonstrated record of writing in the biopharmaceutical arena, including medical papers and research documents. Must be able to work in fast paced environment while ensuring that copy and content are delivered on time and on strategy. Has a working knowledge of FDA advertising and promotion regulations and AMA style guidelines. May be asked to research promotional claims and perform data mining, working with Clinical Study Reports (CSRs) and resources from the AbbVie Library.
The Copy Content Manager ensures that suitable references are used to support all product and promotional claims. They work with multiple internal and external resources in the development, writing, referencing, editing and creation of reference decks and grids.
Supports the commercial team, with ad hoc support of other functions and corporate teams.
Develops content in collaboration with franchise and cross-functional review processes (Medical, Regulatory, Legal, etc.)
Generates consumer, external facing creative content and concepts.
Collaborates with art directors and designers in the creation of promotional materials.

B.A./B.S in a medical-related field (Biology or Chemistry), or a B.A./B.S. in Business, Communications or Advertising; or equivalent business experience within the pharmaceutical or related industry.
10+ years of medical copywriting experience.
Proven skills and experience in developing advertising and promotional ideas, concepts, and campaigns
Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products, and the promotion of sales and marketing materials/samples and interactions with healthcare professionals.
Knowledge and experience in researching, understanding, and interpreting medical and scientific literature and concepts – and translating this information into successful communications aimed at various professional and patient target audiences.
Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills; project management skills; and organizational skills.
Experience in pharmaceutical marketing/communication/advertising
Senior Copywriter/agency experience.
Understanding of pharmaceutical sales, market research, print production, and e-media
