As the Cyber Security Engineering Manager, you will lead a technical team of engineers and oversee collaborate on the design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations of cyber security centric solutions and services. You will be responsible for providing development and mentoring to the security engineers within the team, along with providing them technical leadership and guidance. You will own and manage cyber security technology that is utilized by the Information Security team, work closely with other members of the Information Security Leadership team, and collaborate with Business Technology Solutions (BTS – i.e. IT) technology stakeholders that operate and maintain security related technologies by providing appropriate oversight to ensure security controls are implemented effectively and enhance AbbVie’s overall cyber security capabilities. You and your team will provide technical feedback and configuration guidance regarding technologies operated by other BTS teams as well as help those teams evaluate security feature effectiveness. The Cyber Security Engineering Manager is expected to define and implement the strategy and roadmap to mature the cyber security engineering service offering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for team members and colleagues to enable effective and timely delivery of security designs, solutions, tools, practices, and processes

  • Facilitate effective design, development and delivery of technical security solutions that consistently meet industry standards as well as user, functional, and security requirements

  • Build and maintain custom internal applications, capabilities, and/or tools as needed to address requirements/needs from other Information Security areas (Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Data Security, and Security Architecture)

  • Design, implement, and operate an orchestration service offering that automates a significant amount of the manual processes performed today by the Information Security team

  • Execute cyber security monitoring strategy and monitor/maintain monitoring service

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a log management strategy that builds a strong foundation for consuming system logs and allows for in depth analytics to be performed on the data; all while allowing for growth, scalability, and is vendor agnostic

  • Provide oversight to other Information Technology Engineering teams who manage cyber security centric technologies to: ensure controls are being implemented effectively; new features are evaluated and implemented appropriately; controls are applied uniformly where expected

  • Develop and maintain documentation (i.e. run books) that details how supported security systems are designed and how they should be maintained

  • Stay current on industry developments and stay up to date on emerging security technologies, risks and trends

  • Organize, track, and report on own work, and the work of others within the team

  • Integrate ongoing operations and support into AbbVie’s overall ITIL processes

  • Manage and maintain metrics reporting for the Information Security team to ensure reporting is performed consistently and accurately

  • Build and lead a transition to a DevSecOps culture and mindset within the teamCoach, develop, and mentor team members

  • Bachelors degree with 10 years of total experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ of hands on experience in one or more of the following fields: networking, software engineering, or system administration; with an focus on cybersecurity for a minimum of 3+ years

  • Excellent communication skills – both oral (for interviews/meetings, presentations) and written (for designing and writing engaging reports which communicate findings succinctly and clearly convey the message in a way which is appropriate for the audience)

  • Understanding of, and experience with, the full-range of software development lifecycle disciplines.

  • A strong drive towards automation and innovative thinking

  • Experience with, and strong knowledge of, modern systems engineering tools, analytical tools, architecture, technologies and best practices

  • Strong project management, organization, and delivery skills

  • Information Security certification (i.e. CISSP) preferred
