The BTS Program Director will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to ensure excellence in delivery of large, enterprise programs (cost exceeds $10-$20MM and/or significant employee/functional impact globally). This includes all facets of project and Program leadership and delivery, including planning, delivery, relationship management, team leadership, risk management and governance. You will partner with other shared service PMOs, other project owners, sponsors and stakeholders to ensure Program success. You will help drive alignment, mitigate risk and realize program benefits throughout its lifecycle.

Program Management and Delivery

  • Lead all aspects of the Program lifecycle in partnership with project owners, portfolio managers and key sponsors (budget, forecasting, resource management, milestone tracking, governance and risk/issue management)

  • Assess, monitor, and resolve priority program risks as they are encountered (execution, business, technical and people risks).

  • Partner with the EPMO to ensure standards for project methodology and execution are embraced by project teams and follow AbbVie standards.

  • Enable alignment of scope, resource and progress across the areas of your responsibility.

  • Responsible for ensuring assigned programs are executed to financial, quality and customer satisfaction desired outcomes.

  • Present to executive level sponsor/steering committee members

  • Partner with external system integrators to ensure successful program delivery

People Leadership and Development

  • Coach, mentor, train and support project managers in the fulfillment of their work threads

  • Provide feedback to EPMO/VMO and/or resource managers on assigned program employees, project manager /vendor performance

  • Partner with the ePMO resource manager and other delivery leads to select, hire or contract highly skilled project managers

  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide constructive performance feedback and recognition. Anticipate and resolve performance gaps quickly to keep Program on track (applies to all project managers: internal, contracted and/or system integrator resources)

Relationship Management

  • Heavy use of cross-functional influence without authority to keep alignment on Programs and balance with holding people accountable for their role

  • Build and sustain positive relationships across Programs/supporting functions to reinforce a positive environment of collaboration and respect

  • Maintain the highest levels of customer service and business professionalism and foster a sense of transparency and openness

EPMO Processes

  • As part of matrixed relationship to EPMO leadership team, contribute to improving process and delivery success and continuing to evolve tools and methodologies

  • Ensure compliance, where needed, with Program policies and processes (ePMO Standards)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and 10+ years of experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing several complex, cross functional enterprise programs of various types.

  • Ability to influence across boundaries (with and without authority) to ensure teams are aligned, issues and risks are identified and managed.

  • 8-10 years of management and people leadership experience in Program management capacity.

  • Proven track record of Financial and Risk Management

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to build consensus and develop solid relationships.

  • Strong technical acumen in infrastructure, security, and/or architecture

  • Proven communication skills; both written and verbal with technical and non-technical staff and all levels of management

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in business, IT, operations, finance a plus, but not required.

  • Experience with multiple PPM tools

  • Experience with various delivery methodologies including Agile/DevOps
