Associate Director, US FSS RTR Accounting

The Associate Director, US FSS RTR is responsible for several centralized accounting processes within the Shared Services Center. FSS RTR is responsible for centralizing and executing accounting processes, governance and controls and delivering organizational efficiencies via centralization of common accounting processes for certain global, US regional and the US BU functions. This role oversees close and certain reporting responsibilities, as well as ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place for all areas of responsibility. The position provides leadership to a total staff of 10.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for supervision of month-end close processes including approval of journal entries and account reconciliations for accounting topics such as prepaids, accruals, allocations, chargebacks and Foundation specific accounting to ensure in compliance with US GAAP.
Responsible for ensuring accounting processes are executed in well controlled manner aligned with SOX and internal control requirements.
Partners with global process owners and external vendors for areas such as global meetings and expatriate/relocation to develop global, streamlined processes and resolve issues, ensure accurate billing and financial reporting and execute process efficiencies.
Works with stakeholders in FSS, Corporate and the affiliates to develop, communicate and redesign consistent accounting methodology for AbbVie Incentive Plan, expatriate/relocation, US payroll, cash application, hedging and global meetings.
Partner with the functional teams to contribute to key projects and systems initiatives to ensure finance requirements are implemented appropriately.
Responsible for escheatment and banking accounting including cash application, IHC clearings and hedging for US entities.
Reviews monthly financials for the AbbVie Foundation and Patient Assistance Fund and assist with audit schedules and requests throughout the year for the year end audit.
Responsible for creating ideas to reduce entries and create simplifications for the AbbVie close process aligned with the FSS RTR goal of optimization of the global Finance Operating Model.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA desired
Prior supervisory experience required
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles; Treasury, Consolidations and accounting support preferred
Solid knowledge of AbbVie policies, U.S. GAAP, internal controls, Sarbanes Oxley and financial reporting requirements
Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to manage to timelines, quality and process improvement goals
Ability to work independently and adjust priorities to achieve accurate and timely results
Proficient in Excel. Knowledge of SAP, BlackLine and HFM is a plus
