This role provides leadership for Benefits programs and vendors for AbbVie employees and retirees in the U.S. and Latin American regions. This includes the design, development, communication and administration of benefits programs, including retirement, health & welfare and Vitality/well-being programs.
The benefits team as part of the global Total Rewards team seeks to deliver forward-thinking benefits globally that support AbbVie's Talent Philosophy and Total Rewards Guiding Principles to attract and retain top talent, support the diverse needs of employees through their life and career stages, and respond to the rapidly changing business and economic environment.
Develop benefit programs and recommendations using competitive data, industry trends, costs, and employee experience for AbbVie employees and retirees in the U. S. and Latin American regions. Determine opportunities to improve AbbVie benefit plans and employee experience through new or enhanced programs, processes, vendors and tools.
Identify and lead projects to create retirement solutions (design and/or delivery) to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
Subject matter expert and consultant to Latin American Total Rewards team on the development of benefit program design, including financial, operational and employee impact analysis. Develop international benefits best practices and global guidelines including training materials, templates, and other resources to build and drive excellence within the Total Rewards and HR teams.
Lead monthly Latin America benefits meetings with Total Rewards team to review benefit recommendations, upcoming projects, contract renewals and compliance changes. Resolve escalated issues working with internal and external resources
Work with purchasing, the outsourcing center of excellence (OCOE), and external consultants for specific projects to ensure appropriate scope, fees and deliverables. Support all aspects of renewals, RFPs and new vendor selections.
Manage multinational pools and distribution strategy for pooling dividends.
Manage annual process to identify priority country projects. Support the annual update of the benefits inventory database in coordination with the Benefits Data Analytics, Total Rewards team and consultants.
Consult with Talent Deployment and make recommendations on assignment and relocation benefit programs, including plan design, assignment benefits provisions, social security recommendations, and cross border set-ups.
Manage due diligence and integration of acquired entities. Prepare side-by-side benefit comparisons and evaluations, provide expert advice on pension and liabilities, and recommend day one and post-close treatment of benefits and employee orientation to AbbVie.
Individual contributor. May have one direct report and will indirectly manage others via project leadership.
Reports to Director, Benefits, Total Rewards.
Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in relevant subject area. Position requires 10+ years of retirement, health and welfare, and well-being experience with at least 3 years of international benefits experience. CEBS designation is a plus.
Global, well-rounded expertise of both defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans. Solid working knowledge of U.S. and Latin American regions relating to the development and execution of retirement programs, strategies and processes.
Strong project management skills. Experience leading large, cross-functional projects or implementations.
Strong critical thinking skills, consulting experience and a proven record of putting together complex strategic, operational or tactical recommendations.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to use data to tell a story.
Executive presence and ability to create and deliver presentations to senior leaders. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Disposition to work in a highly diverse environment with potential for cross-cultural and communication barriers.
Able to multi-task in a face paced environment. Lead with a continuous improvement mindset
