The primary function of the Vendor Manager is to establish and manage a centralised vendor function commensurate with AbbVie Policies and objectives, while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. The Vendor Manager works closely with Affiliate management and employees at levels up to and including directors in a technical and/or specialist role.
This position will work closely with business owners to assist them in engaging with vendors. As a subject matter expert, the Vendor Manager is responsible for maintaining a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in AbbVie’s vendor management. The role provides expertise, coaching and vendor support to business units. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to influence, demonstrate intuitive business acumen and ensure compliance to Abbvie Policies and procedures.
Accountable for the end to end vendor engagement process, in collaboration with the business owner
Lead the continuous improvement focus on vendors, with respect to efficiency, service delivery, cost quality, safety and productivity
Maintain a customer-centric focus as a first principle in all business processes and decision making
Actively drive effective communication with AbbVie and with AbbVie’s partners to nurture relationships and build trust
Drive implementation and raise the level of automation through the smart use of IT platforms, process improvement and user capability
Define and enforce consistent processes and solutionsto business challenges as they relate to the vendor function consistent with global policies
Drive positive change: including people, processes and technology
When an opportunity presents,assess and understand the operational and commercial impacts and support implementation to improve performance and processes of vendor engagement function
Ensure business units are compliant to vendor engagement processes and policies
Demonstrate knowledge of external guidelines (e.g., FDA, Customs, TSCA, USDA and PhRMA) to ensure compliance.
Develop the Vendor Management framework (includingIT framework), with a view to continue to refine and improve efficiency, ultimately automating the process within an IT Framework
Work in collaboration with the business to support and execute vendor commercial arrangements inclusive of PV, EDD, QA, Data Privacy and other business requirements
Collaborate with PSM to ensure the optimum commercial outcome is received from all vendor engagements
Develop and maintain a customer focus to deliver outcomes for the business in the most efficient and compliant method possible
Meet KPIs as established for the role.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a support or lead function involved in Finance, Purchasing, Commerce, Law or related discipline
Experience with SAP (essential)
Supplier Evaluation & Selection
Negotiation Skills and Cost Analytics
Pharmaceutical Industry knowledge
Contract Law and Drafting
Strong written and Oral English Language Skills.

Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Contract Management (Ariba or an identified system).
Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication and conflict resolution with all levels of staff
