AbbVie’s Information Security team is looking for a candidate to join an exciting, high performing organization. The Senior Information Security Engineer, working as a member of AbbVie’s Information Security Team, will be responsible for evaluating, identifying, and coordinating specific recommendations to the design, and configuration of security products/controls in an effort to continuously improve the detection and prevention of cyber security threats. This role will perform continual assessment of currently-deployed technologies, identifying and evaluating new features and functionalities across network, endpoint, and cloud, as well as identification and evaluation of new technologies to address existing gaps in capability. This position will influence information security direction and posture at AbbVie and will work closely with the security architecture, cyber security response, and cyber threat intelligence functions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluation of current security products and new security technologies to determine effectiveness

  • Tuning of detective and preventive network and host-based security controls and configurations

  • Development of new detective/preventative controls

  • Recommendation of strategic technological changes and approaches

  • Metrics/reporting of enhancements to security technologies

  • Collaborate with operational teams and vendors to engineer and implement technical solutions

  • Work with system administrators and engineers to ensure systems are designed and configured securely

Required Technical Skills

• Solid understanding of network protocols and operating systems

• Scripting and/or lightweight development experience

• Quick learner, can pick up on technology concepts and capabilities quickly

Basic:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an information technology discipline

  • 4 year college degree in computer science or related field is desired

  • Security certifications are desired

Additional Desired Skills

  • Intrusion Detection/Prevention (IDS/IPS) experience

  • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) experience

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, etc
