The Bioanalysis and Biotransformation Department at AbbVie has an opening for a Scientist II/Sr. Scientist I position in North Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Lake County Bioanalysis Pre-analytics group.
The Pre-analytics group focuses on sample handling, extraction, and general logistics of in vivo samples. These samples are then transferred to the analytical group in a ready to analyze format.
Grow and develop directreports, including a focus on growth planning
Understand and drive theoperations and workflows for the pre-analytics group
Maintain scientific integrityand expand the group’s scientific knowledge
Ensure timely execution of taskswithin the group
Level will be based on education & years of experience
B.S. (and 7+ years of experience) or M.S. (and 5+years of experiene) in analytical chemistry or related field required
Proven experience working withbiological materials and extraction of small molecules from matrices
Proven experience working inconjunction with a LC-MS group and thorough understanding of theirworkflow
Fundamental understanding of ITsystems, workflows, and robotics
Preferred - Understanding of ITworkflows, LIMS systems, and laboratory notebook
Preferred - Experience with managingor mentoring
Proven ability to work in a teamenvironment and an ability to collaborate successfully across other groupswithin R&D
Strong communication and presentationskills
Highly motivated and self-driven withthe flexibility to quickly adapt to different projects
B.S. (and 10+ years of experience) or M.S. (and 8+ years of experience) in analytical chemistry or related field required
PhD with 0-1+ years of experience will also be considered
Builds strong relationships with peersand cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higherperformance.
Learns fast, grasps the"essence" and can change course quickly where indicated.
