This position supports AbbVie’s U.S. R&D organization and will interact with attorneys in the Legal Division and R&D business. The position reports to Senior Counsel, Clinical R&D Legal.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Exercise discretion, independent judgment and critical thinking skills to negotiate, draft, and review clinical study-related agreements including, but not limited to, Informed Consent Forms, Clinical Study Agreements, and Confidential Disclosure Agreements.
Escalate legal matters to senior attorneys as appropriate.
Possess strong communication skills required to effectively gather relevant information from R&D business contacts and contract management support functions and interact and negotiate with individuals inside and outside AbbVie.
Develop knowledge of AbbVie’s R&D business and supported client areas. At senior attorney direction, keep abreast of changes in U.S. laws that affect client areas.
Coordinate with AbbVie legal specialists on intellectual property and privacy law.
Possess organizational, project management and multitasking skills to manage multiple matters, set own work priorities and meet required work deadlines.
Have flexibility to take on special projects and/or additional responsibilities as needed.
Advise legal department managers of project developments.
Bachelor’s Degree and ABA approved Paralegal Certificate, preferred
Understanding of health care/research laws and regulations and industry guidance, preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience. In-house legal experience preferred, working in pharmaceutical industry, CRO, or health care institution involved in clinical trials.
