The position leads the strategic and operational responsibilities for the Finance Shared Services (FSS) Record to Report (RTR) US organization. Responsible for leading a team of 30 finance associates ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place in the execution of all owned accounting processes in addition to executing strategic initiatives defined by FSS and the Accounting COE providing leadership and project management across various US Function accounting teams for initiatives such as Close Acceleration and other accounting process standardization.
Key Responsibilities Includes:
Manage all accounting and month-end close process for US and certain global processes executed by the FSS RTR US shared service center ensuring accurate accounting is executed in compliance with US GAAP, AbbVie policy, SOX, internal controls and legal and regulatory requirements.
Lead the execution of FSS strategic projects and associated change management aligned with FSS strategies related to centralization and harmonization of accounting processes delivering improvements in organizational agility, efficiency and effectiveness.
Lead FSS RTR US in implementation of process improvements (CIR’s CI’s) to simplify accounting process. Collaborate and partner with other RTR FSS centers, FSS Process teams, BPO (3rd party provider) and the Accounting COE organization to identify and prioritize financial close process improvements and system enhancements. Provide accounting requirements, resources, project support, testing and inputs on project go/no go decisions impacting accounting processes. Monitor continuous improvement and process agility improvements via monthly metrics reporting.
Lead the collaboration across US Functions via shared goal leadership aligning US functions on FSS strategic initiatives and Accounting COE close acceleration initiatives.
Provide stewardship, in collaboration with other key stakeholders to ensure quality, operating, financial, and customer satisfaction objectives are achieved.
Ensure proper organizational structure, talent development and succession planning is in place to support the current and future organizational and individual talent development needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PROFILE
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA or MBA required
15+ years relevant experience in accounting and management
Experience in finance transformation, project management and executing change
Experience working in global organizations and building strong partnerships
Shared Service experience preferred
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Professional oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical, organizational, decision making and administrative skills
Strong process and change management skills
Ability to work interactively, proactively, and influence across matrix organizations across all levels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Intermediate to Advanced Excel
SAP & Accounting Systems (Hyperion preferred)
