Our Cork Site in Carricktwohill is a Bulk Oral Solid Dose manufacturing site which is undergone a significant site expansion.
We are looking for an Engineering intern for a role in Business Excellence . The successful candidate will gain experience in Leans Tools and Continuous Improvement Projects, and will work across all departments in the organisations, gaining an invaluable knowledge of how the business operates and the effects improvements can have across the whole organisation.
Sample projects include;
Development of expanded warehouse and will include; Safety, Layout, Material flow, SAP Location, Office Areas, Branding & Design and Scoping out of a dedicated warehouse management system for non SAP stock.
Supply chain; Shipping & Logistics Planning, Global Trade Compliance (Export and Import), NPI Product Launches, Warehousing – Lean & Visual Management and Material Management and iQA process improvements.
PSM Purchasing; Direct Purchasing Overview, Supplier Management and Relationships, REACH Supplier Compliance, Sourcing, Contract, Pricing Negotiations and Spend Analysis Exposure.
Implementation of Visual Management and Performance Management in key functions to highlight and resolve roadblocks to smooth flow.
Development and roll out of Root Cause Problem Solving infrastructure and training, and embedding a culture of Root Cause Analysis across all departments
Engineering interns can join many departments in the Cork site and project will vary in each area. Sample intern projects in:
Quality with a focus on Compliance and Human Error reduction, process improvements etc
Production with a focus on working on efficiency and system & process improvements
Science & Technology, focused on process improvements and more analytical type project
Requirements for an internship with Abbvie
Studying for a Bachelors or Master’s Degree student in Mechanical, Chemical or BioMedical Engineering. Min of 3.0 GPS or 2.1
Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship
Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
EU working permit
School and/or work experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.3D CAD software experience
