We are seeking an enthusiastic student to join our team in the proteostasis group at the Abbvie Foundational Neuroscience Center as a full-time co-op student for 6 months. The position requires candidates with strong interest in neuroscience. Primary responsibilities for this position include contribution in establishing in vitro cell-based models and developing high content imaging andbiochemical assays to support validation of new drug targets in the field of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
Following background is preferred but not required:
Experience with basic cell culture. Previous experience with primary or iPSC derived neurons is a plus
Familiarity with imaging and biochemical techniques is preferred
Strong desire to learn new techniques
Experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a team environment
Transportation: (please provide directions to your office by car and by public transportation from Northeastern University).
Public Transportation: Walk to Massachusetts Ave @ St. Botolph St; Take CT1 to Central Square; Walk to Massachusetts Ave @ Sidney St; Turn right onto Sidney Street and walk to 200 Sidney Street; AbbVie is on the 2nd floor.
Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship
Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
Minimum GPA: 3.0/4.0
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
School and/or work experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Significant Work Activities and Conditions: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
