At AbbVie Ballytivnan, Sligo, we are expanding our facility into a multi-million dollar state of the art biologics plant that will bring ground breaking scientific research to real life solutions for our patients. As part of this expansion we require an experienced Clean Utility Engineering Technician/Specialist to join the team. This role will provide the successful candidates to join the team in the Biologics site start-up phase which provides a unique opportunity to join a Biologics facility in the Northwest. The Clean Utility Technician roles provide the opportunity to participate in activities from start-up, commissioning, qualification through to system handover and sustaining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating in design and process project conversations to ensure reliability by design is built in prior to equipment arrival.

  • Site Acceptance Testing and commissioning and qualification of equipment.

  • Ensuring proactive high performance of day to day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing and clean utility equipment.

  • Owning and preparing, preventative and predictive maintenance for new pharma equipment being installed and approval of these procedures on Maximo.

  • To liaise with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting, and installing/commissioning equipment.

  • Implementation of equipment/process upgrade in an environment of continuous improvement.

  • Support the Production Team in ensuring that manufacturing equipment is maintained to meet the output and yield requirements.

  • Completion of all related documentation in compliance with site and regulatory rules and guidelines

  • Update stores spare lists as appropriate when required

  • Keep training current in line with requirements

  • All work on site to be carried out in accordance with site EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) rules and guidelines.

Education Required


  • Relevant Engineering Qualification to Cert Level (minimum) (Diploma/Degree Preferred)

  • Relevant Trade Qualification

Experience Required

  • 3 years experience working in a highly regulated clean utility environment (Pharma/Biologic/Medical Device)

  • Proven problem solving ability on complex equipment

  • Proven instrumentation/PLC trouble shooting ability
