General Position Summary/Purpose:

The Associate Director of VPM is a field based position on the medical affairs team that will collaborate with various medical and commercial team members in the development and execution of the strategic value plan for the oncology/hematology portfolio. The VPM will be the company expert on current and emerging value and pathway models. They will partner with various patient, professional organizations and understand the pharma and bio position on these various models and provide insights and guidance to internal team members. The VPM should possess an overall knowledge of current value and pathway models, and ideally will have first-hand expeierence with NCCN Evidence Blocks and/or ASCO Value Framework as well pathways such as Via. This individual should possess an overall understanding of professional medical organizations, state societies, patient advocacy and payors.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal colleagues and teams to develop the strategy for oncology/hematology portfolio, including the development of long term value stories and data needs across various value models and pathways i.e ASCO value framework, NCCN Evidence Blocks, OncoEMR, Via Pathways

  • Serve as the internal expert on all models and present updates to team members and senior management as necessary

  • Develop internal tools to effectively communicate information about models to internal team members, medical and commercial leadership teams

  • Partner with internal colleagues to determine data needs for all value and pathway models

  • Lead work streams to develop value plans and messaging under the introduction of new models, pathways and pilots, etc.

  • Manage projects and relationships to develop resources, training, and programs to deliver on value and pathway strategies

  • Analyze and identify opportunities with advocacy, professional associations and payer groups

  • Ensure understanding of the external organizations and societies efforts in defining value and establishing value frameworks

  • Support patient access to medicines by working with various groups to help determine the value of innovation and address access barriers

  • Collaboration with our partner, Janssen, to support business/alliance objectives and provide updates as necessary

  • Plan and execute training of materials for internal colleagues

  • Coordinate with commercial to participate in relevant market research

  • Travel expected to be up to 30% – 40%

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry with 10 years in oncology including VPM experience in value or pathways and professional organizations

  • Experience developing relationships with professional medical organizations and other external partners

  • Experience making presentations to senior leadership

  • Advanced power point and excel proficiency

  • Exceptional presentation skills in both 1:1 and group settings

Education Requirements (degree, certifications, etc.):

• Bachelor or four-year college degree with experience in hematology/oncology, advance degree preferred (pharmd, phd, mph)
