The Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics (CPPM) Organization leads the strategy, generation/analyses/interpretations/reporting of data and communications/agreements with global regulatory agencies in the areas of Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, Exposure-Response and Biopharmaceutics. The organization supports all phases of pharmaceutical research and development from Discovery to Development to On Market Support for all new molecular entities and marketed products in all therapeutic areas The organization provides critical support for conducting technical due diligence of new business opportunities by assessing probability of success for achieving Target Product Profile (TPP). CPPM contributes to responses to defend our intellectual properties and extension of patent protection, provides critical support for life-cycle management of marketed products, responds to questions from post-marketing safety, legal, pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulatory for marketed products world-wide, and publication of scientific information in patents and manuscripts.

Business Operations provides and maintains the infrastructure that allows the CPPM scientists to perform their day to day activities. We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Business Operations based in North Chicago, IL reporting to the Associate Director, Business Operations for CPPM.

Responsibilities: •Responsible for providing financial and human resource planning and management for the entire Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics (CPPM) organization including Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacometrics, Clinical Pharmacology Medical Department, AbbVie Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit (ACPRU), CPPM Scientific Support, Quantitative System Medicine(QSM) and Development Design Center (DDC) groups. •Managing, on a daily basis, the CPPM financial, capital and human resource capacity and providing guidelines for appropriate workload distribution across the CPPM organization within current plan/update budget. •Maintains and provides updates to the CPPM Resource Model to forecast headcount needs. •Adheres to all corporate financial guidelines, ethics and compliance standards. •Prepares and presents financial templates to R&D Finance and R&D Senior Management to justify Headcount and functional Budget requirements for Plan, Portfolio, Update, & Long Range Plan (LRP). •Interacts with external vendors and assists with processing contracts, consultancy agreements, invoices and contractor requisitions. •Develops the prioritized Capital budget for CPPM and manages assigned capital budget. •Manages timesheets and resolves delinquent entries.
•Anticipates and leads issue resolution for all financial aspects. •Works with and /or leads cross-functional teams that include R&D Finance, the Project Office, Portfolio Program Management, and other R&D functions to accomplish department and division strategies, goals, objectives and responsibilities.

Qualifications: •BS or MS in health care, business or finance-related fields •6 years total experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with at least 2 years in an R&D financial or finance-related role •Basic knowledge of project management practices, portfolio review, finance & budgeting. •Demonstrated leadership skills with broad scientific, strategic and business-related orientations •Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact externally and internally to support business strategy •Must have demonstrable successful experience in one or more of the following areas/roles: -Excellent analytical capability with practical experience in developing theoretical models for scenario planning. -Experience in planning and budgeting complex activities / projects. Experience in planning for global sites is preferred. -Planning experience and/or equivalent supervisory experience.
