Given the Company’s deep commitment to Oncology, the AbbVie U.S. Commercial Oncology organization is seeking aGeneral Manager (GM) Solid Tumorsreporting to the VP U.S. Commercial Oncology. The GM will have full Profit & Loss accountability for the U.S.’s solid tumor business, which today includes two promising assets set to launch in 2018. For more information about AbbVie Oncology, please visit This leadership position drives marketing and sales for the U.S. Commercial Oncology Solid Tumor business. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Direct, initiate, and oversee the development of effective sales and marketing strategies that are executable, easily communicated, and clinically supported. * Build current and future competitive advantage by understanding & addressing key customers’ needs, and by demonstrating deep understanding of competitors’ strategies. * Develop internal and external customer relationships that successfully drive business objectives. * Broaden AbbVie’s Oncology network and presence by building scientific, academic, KOL, payer, and patient advocacy relationships. * Ensure timely guidance to senior management regarding the strategy and key brands; lead the long-range plan process, portfolio planning, annual financial plan, and licensing strategies. * Effectively champion and communicate the Solid Tumor vision and strategies to all related stakeholders, gaining support for initiatives along the way. * Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect within the franchise. * Create and optimize the organizational structure to meet market/customer needs. * Create opportunities to fully develop the sales and marketing teams. Build and develop an organization reflecting a diverse workforce. * Balance business priorities and resources, adapting to the external and internal environment. * Position requires excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills to understand scientific and financial data, recognize key issues, establish priorities, and prepare high-level presentations for senior executive staff review.

Qualifications:
Basic * 10-15 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in progressive commercial leadership roles with a strong foundation in marketing including successful product launch experience and ideally sales, managed care, and/or general management with prior P&L responsibility. * Oncology experience required, preferably 5 years of Solid Tumor operational experience at a minimum. * Successful experience with Companion Diagnostics – both strategy development and tactical execution – strongly preferred. * Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. * U.S. experience required with strong skills and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with global teams. Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and external stakeholders. * Strong executive presence and leadership skills are imperative as this leader will serve as a key role model in the organization helping to support a strong and rapidly growing Oncology business for AbbVie. * Demonstrated and consistent experience in successfully leading organizational change. * Outstanding partnering skills and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive commercial decisions in a highly-matrixed organization to accomplish business goals. * Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions. * Capable of attracting and developing world-class commercial talent. * Strong communication and negotiating skills required. _Key Leadership Competencies:_ * Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance. * Learns fast, grasps the “essence”, and can change course quickly when necessary. * Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo. * Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions, and experimentation for improvement. * Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation, and manages innovation to reality.
